Accessibility

AskALLE™ is built for neurodivergent people, people with developmental disabilities, and the families and professionals who support them. Being easy to use and easy to understand is the point of what we do.

What we do

  • Plain language. Short sentences, one idea at a time, and acronyms explained. Words Worth Knowing defines more than 240 terms.
  • Readable type. Our main font, Atkinson Hyperlegible, was designed for readers with low vision, and our colors are chosen for strong contrast.
  • Clear structure. Headings, lists and labeled links so pages work well with screen readers and keyboard navigation.
  • Works on phones. Every page is designed to work on small screens.
  • Spanish. The AskALLE app works fully in Spanish, and we have a Spanish page on this website.
  • In the app: an Easy read setting for even simpler wording, and a Listen button that reads answers aloud.

Our goal

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. We test pages on computers and phones and fix problems as we find them.

Known limits

  • Some pages we link to are run by other organizations and may not be fully accessible.
  • Some downloadable handouts are PDFs. If a PDF doesn’t work for you, ask and we’ll send the information another way.

Tell us about a barrier

If something on AskALLE is hard to use or understand, we want to know. Tell us the page and what happened, and we’ll work to fix it. You can also ask for information in another format, like large print or a plain-text email.
